PEOPLE UPDATE
FROM SARAH DAWSON - CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER, INTERNATIONAL PEOPLE SOLUTIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS
I hope you remain safe and well, and I wanted to start my update by saying a massive “thank you” to everyone!
It has certainly been a challenging 12 months – both for our business and our people. However, I’m so proud that everyone continues to ‘Do the Right Thing’ as well as showing strength, resilience and real commitment throughout this pandemic…So, thank you again!
They say that you should never let a good crisis go to waste… and we certainly haven’t. The People Solutions & Communications team has been working behind the scenes thinking about how we are going to set the organisation up for future success… and I’m excited to share some of this with you now.

HI EVERYONE,
We know the world is changing and that the pandemic has forced many businesses including ours to adapt the way we work. We’re now used to living and working in a virtual world and most of us have moved from physical meetings to meetings online. Yes, we’ve had to get used to the interruptions of day-to-day life, but we also know that many people prefer this flexibility. Above all, we’ve proven that we can operate differently as an International organisation.
But now that the world is starting to open-up again, we are starting to shape the future way of working across Cox Automotive International. Setting out, we knew that we would have failed if we go back to how we were before, so we have been exploring what our reimagined workplace looks like. More information will be coming soon, but essentially, we want to ensure that we retain the flexible working that has suited many of you over the last 12 months, and create working environments that drives collaboration and supports interactions that can’t happen remotely.
To help set us up for future success, we need to make sure that we have an inclusive, diverse and equitable workforce. We need diverse backgrounds, new ideas and fresh experiences to help us drive innovation and keep us competitive. We are at different stages of our Inclusion, Diversity and Equity journey across International and that’s why I’m thrilled we have launched “Can I Say That…?” campaign this month to help us understand the importance of diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
Finally, I want to end by saying that we work for an amazing company. Please continue to take care of yourselves and your teams and I want to leave you with a final video that really sums up our organisation brilliantly, our values and how we empower our people “to make the world a better place for the next generation”. You’ll be hearing much more about this phrase so watch this space!
Since coming together as an International business, we are starting to take the first steps towards a global approach, with the ultimate objective of driving innovation, allowing faster decision-making and making that important step towards enterprise thinking.
One such example of this is first-ever global HR transformation project across Cox Enterprises – which has been recently launched as ‘NEXT’.
‘NEXT’ brings together a team across Cox Enterprises, Cox Communications and Cox Automotive to help deliver a brand-new platform for managing our people processes. By all using the same platform to change personal information, check benefits, request annual leave and search our People Directory, we are aiming for a seamless team member experience. It also gives us that vital flexibility and security for growth within the business – reducing administrative tasks and drive agility.
