We’re delighted to introduce ‘Make-A-Wish Foundation’ – our new charity partner for Cox Automotive International!
‘Make-A-Wish Foundation’ is a global charity dedicated to granting the wishes of critically-ill children across the world. From an adventurous holiday, to meeting life-long heroes or having an extreme bedroom makeover, ‘Make-A-Wish’ works tirelessly to make a child’s life about wonder hope and joy, rather than illness, diagnosis and hospitals.
“Make-A-Wish Foundation is a truly inspirational charity,” explains Alison Fisher, HR Director for Cox Automotive International, “and we really wanted the power of our International organisation and its people to make a significant difference to the lives of the children it supports across the world.
“Like many charities, ‘Make-A-Wish’ has suffered as a result of the pandemic, and there is a backlog of wishes that are unable to be granted due to restrictions on travel and social events. Now restrictions are beginning to lift across some of our Operating Markets, and the charity starts to grant these wishes again, we are hoping to create life-changing wishes for as many children as possible through our fundraising efforts in 2021.
“We going to kick start fundraising activities across international with our ‘Climb Every Mountain’ event! It’s a fantastic opportunity to raise money for ‘Make-A-Wish’ as well as feeling the benefits of being outside for your own physical health and mental wellbeing. I will certainly be taking part and hope that as many of you as possible will join me and participate in a really enjoyable virtual event ...!”
The idea has come from a charity initiative that started in the UK. For the last few years, Cox Automotive has held an annual fundraising event where team members climb Mount Snowdon in Wales to raise money for a chosen charity.
However, in 2020 this event couldn’t go ahead as normal and took place virtually – team members were asked to complete the equivalent distance of 24,000 steps in their own local area instead of climbing an actual mountain!
The fundraising event was called SnowdIN and proved to an outstanding success, raising over £10,000 for Mind – a mental health charity in England and Wales.
This year, we’ve decided to go bigger and even better in 2021 and we’ve extended the virtual climbing idea across international.
‘Climb Every Mountain’ is going to be a fantastic opportunity for team members from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil and Europe to get involved in raising money for ‘Make a Wish Foundation’ whilst supporting Cox Automotive’s Guiding Principles of ‘The Spirit of Cox’ and ‘We Have Fun’!
It’s really simple to get involved!
Look out for communications in your local markets with more information on how to sign-up. We’re just asking you to walk 24,000 steps in 24 hours on Friday 25th June 2021… You can use your Volunteering Day to take part and we are asking you to raise sponsorship to help contribute towards our grand total for ‘Make a Wish Foundation’.
