COX ACCELERATES ITS CARBON AND

WATER NEUTRAL GOAL

NEWS

Carbon and water neutral by 2034. This is our new Cox Conserves goal. Cox Conserves, our enterprise-wide sustainability programme, has been driving meaningful environmental change for over a decade. Now, we’re committing to doing more, faster, by trimming 10 years off our goal to have net-zero carbon dioxide emissions and water consumption.

In 2013, we established aspirational goals to be carbon and water neutral by 2044 and achieve zero waste to landfill (ZWTL) by 2024. Recent advancements in clean technology and the reduced cost of renewable energy have now put those goals in closer reach. Climate change continues to be one of the most pressing issues of our time.

By accelerating these programmes to include more aggressive goals, we have a greater sense of urgency to achieve them and make a significant impact.

INSIDE COX LIVE

On 10th February, Cox Enterprise held its all-virtual, all-employee meeting, InSide Cox Live.

During the conference, Alex Taylor, CEO, noted that in spite of the many challenges of 2020, Cox remains strong and wellpositioned to move forward with a greater respect for the people and the resources in the world in which we live.

“Connectivity, mobility and sustainability are the three primary areas that we’re focused on,” Alex said. “More than ever before, our customers are relying on us to connect them to the people and the things that they love and need most in the world – their relatives, healthcare, transportation, school and data.”

FIRST-EVER COX

AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE

In January, Cox Automotive Inc held its first-ever, state-of-the-art virtual client event – The Cox Automotive Experience.

Tim McKinley, Chief Sales Officer explained more about the event: “We strategically chose late January for The Cox Automotive Experience, so we could roll straight into a virtual NADA – giving us three weeks of dedicated time to exhibit our thought leadership, showcase new products and enhancements, and sell our solutions to our clients.

“We secured millions in revenue, introduced 23 game-changing products and more than 20 new integrations across our brands, and we were more accessible to independent dealers – not the usual audience for NADA. So, our strategy paid off. We came out strong, worked together and exceeded our goals!”

COX AUTOMOTIVE INC ACQUIRES
TWO BUSINESSES

In January, Cox Automotive Inc acquired two businesses that will help drive growth in its core business, and in mobility.

Fyusion is a Silicon-valley computer vision company that can photograph and map a vehicle in minutes using immersive 360-degree imaging and intelligent 3D technology. Now, Manheim in the U.S will be able to deliver a truly best-in-class Condition Report and lead the industry with future technologies that address the top requests from our Manheim clients, like enhanced vehicle inspections.

Dickinson Fleet Services is a large, family-run maintenance and management company for medium and heavy-duty trucks. Their customers are fleet operators such as DHL, Ryder, TruGreen and Amazon.

This is a great business that will instantly make us the leading provider of this type of mobile service in the U.S.

Our enterprise-wide sustainability teams have developed a new strategic Cox Conserves plan with more ambitious goals and a clear roadmap to achieve them. These include:

  • Reducing Cox’s energy use (75% of our carbon footprint), while replacing the energy we must use with renewable resources
  • Reducing water consumption by 30% within our facilities
  • Leveraging new and emerging technologies
  • Investing in rainwater harvesting, water reclamation and facility water reductions
  • Our ZWTL goal will remain at our target of 2024

“Cox was at the forefront of large businesses setting ambitious environmental goals,” said Ira Pearl, vice president of environmental sustainability. “Now, thanks to the hard work of our people, the commitment of our leaders and progress in the cleantech industry, these goals will be achievable sooner.”

“Our people are the driving force behind our sustainability programmes, “continued Ira. “Through their efforts, we will achieve water and carbon neutrality, and we will continue to harness this creativity to propel our programmes forward.”
