On 28 January, team members from across Cox Automotive Europe joined the first-ever virtual Autos ceremony to celebrate all the amazing achievements from across the business in 2020.

The event was hosted by Chief People Officer, Alison Fisher and Head of Group Auctioneers, Andy Conde in a COVID-secure studio. Despite not being able to get together in person, over 400 team members joined The Autos 2021 virtual platform to help congratulate our 13 award winners… Making it the biggest Autos event to date!

The 13 awards are separated into three main categories: People, Customer and Performance, and each award is themed around our Cox Automotive Values and Guiding Principles. Nominations for each award were made by Cox Automotive Europe team members last year, and they were shortlisted by our judging panel before Christmas.

As well as handing out the awards, Alison and Andy led the audience through an evening of entertainment, from a special Cox Automotive song by Britain’s Got Talent winner Jon Courtenay, to an interactive quiz and a special surprise for our President’s Award winner, Adrian Kelly!

Team members were also joined by Mark Bowser, EVP & Chief Financial Officer for Cox Automotive, who personally congratulated the winners, and all team members for their contribution to the organisation throughout 2020.

Alison Fisher commented on the event: “The Autos is always a stand-out event in our Cox Automotive Europe calendar, but this year it was needed more than ever. Despite having to host the ceremony virtually, we had a fantastic turn-out from across Europe, and it was our biggest, most-inclusive Autos event yet!

“Everyone really got into The Autos spirit, decorating their houses, getting dressed up and joining in with all the activities and entertainment on offer. It was an amazing evening celebrating the hard work our team members have done in difficult circumstances throughout 2020, and I want to congratulate again all our worthy winners!”

BARBARA COX ‘WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD’ WINNER ANNOUNCED

The ‘Women With Drive’ network used their International Women’s Day event on 8th March to announce the third annual winner of the Barbara Cox ‘Woman of the Year’ award!

Granted to a woman within the wider automotive industry in Cox Automotive Europe, the Barbara Cox ‘Woman of the Year’ Award recognises an individual that demonstrates a commitment to innovation, leadership, or community.

This year, the winner of the prestigious award was… Lorna McAtear

COX AUTOMOTIVE EUROPE ACQUIRES CODEWEAVERS LTD

Cox Automotive Europe has acquired Codeweavers Ltd – a leading provider of commerce solutions and finance software for OEMs, retailers, lenders and portals in the UK.

Martin Forbes, President Cox Automotive International, said: “This acquisition is an integral part of our strategy to help our customers develop a strong digital retail presence. The pandemic has clearly shown the importance of having a compelling retail offering and the need for innovative online technology has accelerated over the last year.

“We know that any effective new or used vehicle e-commerce platform must have extensive digital capabilities built-in and Codeweavers offers an impressive range of products and software in this area. Its solutions are integrated into the websites of some of the largest automotive manufacturers and it has recently launched a full e-commerce solution for a major OEM.

“This is a great time to be working for Cox Automotive International and I’m sure you will all join me in welcoming Codeweavers to the Cox Automotive family.”

This acquisition comes just two months after Cox Automotive Australia acquired growing software company, DealerCell and almost exactly 12-months on from our biggest acquisition outside of the US – C Walton Ltd, which has already made a huge impact on our Manheim Vehicle Solutions business in Europe.
